3 Ways to Convince People
Convincing others is a great skill. Whether in school,
college, work or home, we face situations when we have to convince others to
believe our opinion. Some are gifted with the skill of convincing others
whereas others are deprived of it. We all know someone who is great at putting
forward his/her ideas and convince others. We might also know who has very poor
convincing skills.
Once you know the trick, it is very easy to convince
others. In this article, I shall discuss about the three ways of convincing
others. I guess you might have faced the conditions presented below somewhere
in your timeline.
1.
Just Convince them
The first way people convince others is that the
second person (one who is being convinced) is only partially convinced. It
might be because the first person presents his opinion in obscure way. The
reason for this might be that the first person is superior in rank or status to
the second person. For example, a boss or a teacher or a parent. The second
person just can’t say NO to the first person.
2.
Convince them (like,
TOTALLY)
The second way is when the second person is fully
convinced. It happens most of the time in schooling days. We totally believe
what our teachers say to us. Not only teachers, we believe most of the things
that people, whom we believe, say to us. In many of the chit-chats with our
friend, we tend to believe them and be convinced. But once we are out of the
conversation, we forget them!
3.
Make them able to
convince third party as well
To make others convinced in such manner that they are
able to convince others as well is the third way of convincing others. Remember
the class where you paid full attention and you were excited enough to explain
it to others as well. The leader’s speech which convinces the listener to
follow him or his ideas. This is the best way of convincing others. In this
way, your ideas and opinions are not confined to only you and your first
listeners. This was the way that made millions of people walk behind Mahatma
Gandhi in his non-violent peaceful revolution against the then British
Government back in 1947 when there was no any electronic means of
communication.
This is the sole reason why the teachings of Buddha
are still practiced today even after 2500 years of his death. If you choose
this way to convince others, your ideas shall reach out to multiple numbers of
people. It shall be remembered even if your physical presence is not there.
Like we remember Steve Jobs today!
umm... i'm not convinced...
