Commencement Day in SSU
Sada Shiv Aarambha…….
The Commencement Day in Sri Sri University, SSU, begins with Guru Puja, a traditional prayer offered to the lineage of Gurus. The dignitaries present were Madam Rajita Kulkarni, President of SSU, Dr. Nanda Lal, Vice-Chancellor of SSU, Mr. Narendra Lamba, Director of Operations, SSU, Dr. Richa Chopra, Dr. Subhash Mahajan, Dr. David Prasanna, Principal of SSU and Dr. Subbarrao Passumurti, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, SSU.
Mr Narendra Lamba said that information is power but living that knowledge makes us powerful. He added that happiness quotient should be there in life along with academics. He mentioned the three things required for a astudent: 1 Domain expertise, 2 Tools to be happy and 3 Contribution to society. His cordial presence cheered up the 1000+ audience of fresh students in the University.
Dr. Richa Chopra launched the magazine for ‘Recognition of Excellence of Aawards’ that aimed at giving several prizes and rewards for the best of the students (academics and sports), teachers and non-teaching staffs. She is also the Head of Vivechana, the counseling department of the University. VC Prof Nanda Lal emphasized on the need to develop core competency and transferable skills to excel in life.
Madam Rajita Kulkarni inspired the eager batch of new students to learn from Roger Federer, PV SIndhu, Sachin Tendulkar; they all dreamed, believed, and executed. She added that business today has to look for 3S: Speed, Scale and Survival. She warned to be ready for the World Economy that is being marked by VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainity, Complexity and Ambiguity).
Dr Subhash Mahajan, Vice President of General Motor, shared his wealth of knowledge and his commitment for the betterment of the university. Dr Subbarrao started with introducing all of the dignitaries while Dr. David ended with vote of thanks. The Commencement started and ended with a mesmerizing Odissi dance performance by the students of Odissi dance.
Later in the afternoon, Dr. Subbarrao, Dean of FCMS addressed us, the MBA students.
“…. do not go for marksheet only, develop yourself holistically……
….. I have done 18 Masters degree and and preparing papers for my 3rd PhD degree….
….. I am 48 and planning to study for 22 more years……
.…. I am not the best and I am still learning……
…..I am ready to come to your hostel and teach you if you need me….”
I still remember the exact words that Dr. Subbarrao said. I found him to be the coolest Dean I have ever seen.
We had 4 lectures and a surprise Geust Lecture the next day. All the faculties were into teaching after decades of corporate experience. SSU in real meaning is the Most Happening Univesity.
